The exhibition catalogue will feature reproductions of all the works on display, as well as a high-quality critical apparatus – including notes on the works, a short anthology of texts, a chronology and an index – giving an idea of Van Gogh’s erudition, the development of scientific thought at the time and its impact on literature.
Previously unpublished texts by Jean de Loisy (co-curator of the exhibition and an art critic), Elsa Courant (a researcher at the CNRS specialising in poetry and literary history in the nineteenth century, with links to the history of science), Constantin Nakov (exhibition curator) and Gottfried Boehm (philosopher and art historian) will expand and diversify the themes explored in the exhibition.
