Born in Switzerland, Pipilotti Rist has been active as a video artist since the mid-1980s. After graduating from the Institute of Applied Arts in Vienna, she studied at the Basel School of Design, where she specialized in video. She has also shown her work all over the world, including at MoMA in New York (USA), Musac in León (Spain), the 51st Venice Biennale (Italy), Kunsthaus Zürich (Switzerland) and, in January 2017, on electronic billboards in Times Square in conjunction with her recent survey show at the New Museum in New York.
