The catalogue Hot Sun, Late Sun was published on the occasion of the exhibition held at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles, from 21 April to 28 October 2018.

1970s. The paths of artists as diverse as a nonagenarian Picasso, a juvenile Polke, a sovereign Joan Mitchell or a pharaonic Sun Ra cross in the bright Mediterranean sunset, away from the great poles of artistic influence. Carried by their free energies and their radiant vitality, they join their elders Monticelli and Van Gogh whose suns, metaphorical, embodied the modernity.

Hot Sun, Late Sun observes with acuity the singular approaches of ten major artists, covering a period of a century and a half, and takes a renewed and daring look at them.
