Giorgi Khoshtaria

Born in Georgia in 1938, Giorgi Khoshtaria graduated from the Faculty of History at Tbilisi State University and has worked at the Giorgi Chubinashvili Institute of Fine Arts since 1957. He conducts scientific research in areas of particular interest to him, namely contemporary European art and Georgian art, and his doctorate was on the work of Niko Pirosmanashvili. In 1990, with the secretary general of the AICA Léone Nogarède de la Grandville, he co-curated the international exhibition of contemporary painters of Georgia held in Paris and Cagnes-sur-Mer, receiving an award for his contribution to scholarship on Georgian painters. In 1990–1991 Giorgi Khoshtaria was Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Georgia. He has participated in several international talks and conferences.
