Nestan Nijaradze

After studying journalism at the University of Tbilisi and a master’s degree in audiovisual studies in Paris, Nestan Nijaradze began developing photographic projects in Georgia in 2006. In 2007, she created the first magazine devoted to photography published in Georgian. In 2010, in partnership with Les Rencontres d’Arles, she founded the Tbilisi Photo Festival, the first international photography festival in the South Caucasus.

Nestan Nijaradze was awarded Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2017 for her commitment to the promotion of French artists in Georgia. In the same year, she became the co-founder of the Tbilisi Photography & Multimedia Museum, dedicated to the contemporary image.
